Some of my favorites from Voodoo Fest 2011

Had a blast out at Voodoo Fest 2011 in City Park back in November 2011.....Here are a few of my favs...started off Friday with some time at the Bingo Parlor with the highly energetic and entertaining Japanese punk band Peelander-Z, great show.......Jeremy Lyons with members of Morphine was great at The Preservation Hall Stage followed by Beausoleil with Dr. Michael White.....Caught a little Ani DiFranco with Ivan Neville and Herlin Riley. Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes were smokin on the Pres Hall stage a little Quintron and Miss Pussycat and then of course SOUNDGARDEN, the highlight of the day for me. Saturday continued with many others including Tommy Malone and the Hard Heads, Social Distortion, Snoop Dog who was incredible especially when joined on stage by Mystical.....won't forget that show too soon.....Blink 182 was great too along with Bobby Rush and of course the New Orleans Bingo Show, but the set that was on total and complete fire was Ivan Neville and Dumpstafunk joined by Walter Wolfman Washington, members of Fishbone and others....wow is all I can say about that show. Also spent time with Mac, the Original Meters, Dr. John with Walter Wolfman Washington, Irma Thomas, and Cyril Neville, some of the Meters and Raconteurs and more.....the rest of the shoot is posted on my website at http://nativeorleanian.com/2011-voodoo-experience-new-orleans-louisiana/

Krewe du Vieux was awesome as usual last night. We went and caught it on Frenchmen Street towards the end of the route. Stopped in a dba and caught a set of Little Freddie King, then headed back towards home to go to the Krewe du Vieux Doo which was being held at Project Restore Habitat for Humanity at 2830 Royal St., one block from my house!! THAT was pretty cool, along with the music, Walter Wolfman Washington, AFUNKALYPSE featuring ,Fred Wesley, with,Raymond Weber,Ike Stubblefield,Jimmy Carpenter,Jeff Watkins, Antonio Gambrell,CR Gruver and then Morning 40 Federation late into the am....what an awesome venue for music, and yes, I could get real used to shows there....REAL EASY;-) Here are some of the pix from the “Vieux Doo” and a couple from Little Freddie King at dba will get to more tomorrow...

What a blast last Friday night at the Best of the Beat Awards. Spent most of the evening hangin with friends Rueben Williams, Papa Mali, Tab Benoit, Dr. John, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Charlie Wooten, Cyril, Art and Gayneille Neville, et al....and enjoyed another truly incredible tribute to George Porter Jr. that featured Dr. John, Art Neville, Monk Boudreaux, Papa Mali and many more, and then a super-duper enhanced version of the Running Pardners with Porter, John Gros, Mark Mullins, Brint Anderson, Tracy Griffith, Jeff Albert. I was also able to catch a little of Glen David Andrews and the Soul Rebels while feasting on the wonderful food made available by many awesome restaurants around town, then enjoyed a set by the Givers and bounced over to another stage with Big Freedia....Great to see my buddy Andrew Duhon receive the award for best singer/songwriter. You can see who all the winners were on Offbeats website at http://www.offbeat.com/2012/01/28/best-of-the-beat-2011-music-awards-the-winners/ . Hats off to Jan Ramsey and the staff of Offbeat for putting on a stellar event Friday at the Best of the Beat Awards, and the Business Awards held at the Joy Theatre on Wednesday.
A few of my Lenny Kravitz fav's from over the years at Voodoo a few years ago and Gulf Aid…….actually remember a show I caught by accident at Tipitinas many years ago, maybe the day after Mardi Gras. I just thought the name was cool, little did I know that was the beginning of the "Let Love Rule" CD Tour, I'll never forget that show….Enjoy the pix….jerry;-)

I have a selection of prints pre-autographed by the musicians. The print size is 12x18 and they are available in editions of 100. All prints are signed and numbered by the photographer and musician. The musicians are paid directly and generously from the purchase of these special images. Once again, most all of my material is available autographed by the musician(if available), in print and canvas format, this gallery simply consists of the images I have pre-signed. Please feel free to inquire about others if interested. Jerry

I was able to go catch a great show at Tipitinas Uptown last night. It's enough that just Jon Cleary was playin, but about a week or so ago Johnny Vidacovich and James Singleton were added, which made this a don't miss show as far as I am concerned. Have never seen Cleary and Johnny V play together and knew that it would be something special, and right on time after the Saints loss earlier in the day. The stage was set up as it was for Johnny V's bday show a few months back, so the both were stage front facing each other, which adds significantly to the intimacy of the show, basically musical ping pong right in front of you, with James Singleton mid stage on his signature stand up bass.....funky, slinky, bluesy tunes were on the menu, seasoned with some classic Mardi Gras staples....a sweet night of music indeed. Love to see these guys together again!

Was able to go catch a really sweet show at the House of Blues last Sunday with an Anders Osborne acoustic set followed by Keb Mo and his full band. Anders opened up and wow'd the crowd for about 45 minutes the Keb Mo came and finished them off for a couple hrs. A really nice way to ease out of a 5 day shooting marathon seein my friend Anders, who has been on the road with Keb Mo for a few weeks, and two of my favorite performers on an early Sunday night. Enjoy the pix, Jerry;-)

Here are a few pics from the long overdue Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Induction of the Neville Brothers, Aaron Neville, Cyril Neville, Art Neville and Charles Neville with Executive Director Mike Shepard of the Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame during the 2012 state fan fest at the Allstate BCS National Championship in the Jax Brewery Parking Lot on January 7, 2012 and the induction of Dash Rip Rock, singer/guitarist Bill Davis later on at the House of Blues. Also ran across these pics of Little Freddie King at dba back in early January where I made a stop at dba on the way home from shooting the Neville Brothers. ALWAYS great to see LFK!!

Back in December I caught up with Dragonsmoke at Tipitinas Uptown I Featuring Stanton Moore, Ivan Neville, Eric Lindell, and Robert Mercurio. It was my first time see'n them so obviously I was really lookin forward with the incredible talent put together on stage. These guys were on total fire, especially in the second set which was littered with some of the most intense and nasty funk grooves I have heard in a while. Dragon Smoke plays together a handful of time during the year, and if you have not seen them, don't miss the next opportunity......
