What a blast last Friday night at the Best of the Beat Awards. Spent most of the evening hangin with friends Rueben Williams, Papa Mali, Tab Benoit, Dr. John, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Charlie Wooten, Cyril, Art and Gayneille Neville, et al....and enjoyed another truly incredible tribute to George Porter Jr. that featured Dr. John, Art Neville, Monk Boudreaux, Papa Mali and many more, and then a super-duper enhanced version of the Running Pardners with Porter, John Gros, Mark Mullins, Brint Anderson, Tracy Griffith, Jeff Albert. I was also able to catch a little of Glen David Andrews and the Soul Rebels while feasting on the wonderful food made available by many awesome restaurants around town, then enjoyed a set by the Givers and bounced over to another stage with Big Freedia....Great to see my buddy Andrew Duhon receive the award for best singer/songwriter. You can see who all the winners were on Offbeats website at

Hats off to Jan Ramsey and the staff of Offbeat for putting on a stellar event Friday at the Best of the Beat Awards, and the Business Awards held at the Joy Theatre on Wednesday.
