It took a double bill like the Funky Meters with one of my new fav's bluesman Jarekus Singleton opening at Tipitinas last Friday to get me out and shooting again for the first time in the New Year. The Funky Meters, well they were on serious fiya and just the right medicine as they have always been. And oh by the way, it was one over the top low down funkiest shows I have seen in a long while, led by the forces of Art “Poppa Funk” Neville and George Porter Jr., with Brian Stoltz on guitar and Terrence Houston on drums......not that I needed a hook to get there, but with Alligator Recording artist and Clinton Mississippi Bluesman Jarakus Singleton opening, well thats just a nasty double bill.......Thanks for a great night of music from Jarekus and his band, The Meters and Tips.....a perfect dose of just what I needed......More images and a musical slideshow can be seen at http://www.nativeorleanian.org/funky_meters_jarakus_singleton_tipitinas_1_23_15 All Rights Reserved ©2005-2015 Jerry Moran Native Orleanian LLC

Just FYI, I did make it out the next night too heading to the Blue Nile to catch CROWBAR upstairs, then Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet downstairs thanks to my man Rueben Williams. Pics from Saturday to come along with my shoot with the Royal Southern Brotherhood and Muscle Shoals earlier this month. Jerry ;-)
