Haven't been able to make it by one of the shows in a bit but have heard through the grapevine that Glen is on fiya these days which was evident last night 4sho. His shows have always been entertaining to the n'th degree but apparently Glen is intent on takin it to a whole new level sounding and lookin best I've seen.....big props to my man and his always killer band! Needless to say, catching one of GDA's shows should be a priority as he is the REAL DEAL!! ]]>Here are a few pics from “The Tangle” show at at Gasa Gasa over on Freret St. July 19th 2013. The Tangle is Darcy Malone Boye (lead vocals/keyboards), Chris Boye (guitar/vocals), Billy Schell (drums), Steve Chyzyk (lead guitar/studio engineer), Craig Toomey (bass guitar/backing vocals). The Tagle is a fresh sounding rock n' roll band seasoned with punk/new wave/rock n'roll elements of the 80's and 90's. Kind of a seriously updated sound of “The Cold” with a solid rock influence. Along with a slew of solid originals, gifted vocalist Darcy and band are fully capable, musically and vocally, of pulling off classic Led Zeppelin tunes like “Communication Breakdown” which they ripped through flawlessly(along with another I can't place presently) during the later part of their set at Gasa Gasa this weekend. ]]>Here are some pics from the Austin based Eric Tessmer Band from last Friday at Le Bon Temps Roule . I met Eric a few years ago at Lafayette Square thru Anders Osborne......who happened to be playin that day. The one or two songs Eric sat in on were enough to get my attention. Eric's style and guitar skills are categorically off the hook, along the lines of SRV(yes, that's what I said)........This was the second gig for the band at Le Bon Temps this year, and at each one I talked with people there who drove 3 and 4 hours just to see these guys(that should tell ya somethin), and as Bob Marley would say, get “Hit” and taken away with Eric's guitar work backed by a more than competent band......Ideally these images would translate what I was seeing and hearing at the show that night, but theres only one way to get the full effect and thats live, so if you see Eric's playing somewhat near ya, don't miss it....can't wait till they swing back thru here again! Both nights Anders was backed by Ron Johnson-bass, Chad Cromwell-drums, David Torkanowski-keys et al….Night 1 guests were John Mooney, G Love and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux opening. ]]>So the backtracking thru Jazz Fest has begun for me......Dumpstaphunk is where I'll start......specifically the set at Tipitinas the last day of Jazz Fest essentially closing the Fest out......Dumpstaphunk was joined by many throughout the evening as has become customary, including Cyril Neville, a slammin horn section which just goes so nicely with the feel it in your bones driving funk that the Dumpstaphunk relentlessly pours onto the crowd.....and of course with parents proudly looking on backstage, guitar phenom Brandon Niederauer went to the Dumpsta with Ian, Ivan and Tony blowin the roof off the joint.......now that's the way to close Jazz Fest!!! Some pretty pretty Wild Mardi Gras Indians were everywhere, what a sight to behold. Also went to St. Joseph's Night on Monday, all I can say as “WOW”.....I make it a point to go most every year to this night time exhibition in the streets, all the pretty suits under the night light is unbelievable. ]]>I was able, or made a conscious decision, to attend a few more night shows during Jazz Fest this year, which I normally don't do in lieu of being out at the fairgrounds all day, every day. One of them was WWOZ's Piano night at the House of Blues. This is one show I really am glad I attended,(Thank You Dwayne Breashears!!) as it was a nice change of pace and I was able to see a few of my favorite “key ticklers” including Bob Andrews, John Gros, Ike Stubblefield, Joe Krown, and Bob Malone..... The HOB had all three rooms going at once, the Main Room , Parish and Foundation, so it was like walking around in an old haunted house(childhood memories) where each room you walked into there was an amazing pianist at work instead of scary goblins.....This made it hard for me to leave as I had to go shoot Instruments a Comin at Tips that evening, which I arrived at an hr and a half later than planned. I thought I would miss Walter who played first, of course as I walked in the side door he was just getting started.....Jazz Fest timing perhaps.....I should have known something was up when on the way to Tips, Professor Longhairs “Tipitina” was played on OZ, which I cranked up all the way......the song ended as I pulled up and Walter started as I walked in......nice....;-) Enjoy the pics!

]]>After arriving home Saturday early evening from a long week up in the northeast in New York and Conn. with the Royal Southern Brotherhood, I headed over to Tipitinas that night to catch the reunion show of the Wild Magnolia Mardi Gras Indians with both Big Chief Bo Dolis and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. ]]>Yet another fine New Orleans establishment the work of Native Orleanian Fine Photography is on display........Back in February I completed a large art installation over at the recently completed pub at NOLA Brewing at 3001 Tchoupitoulas, NOLA 70117. Back in late November Dylan Lintern, VP of NOLA Brewing started the process of digitally laying out the display featuring our musical culture with a large selection of Museum Wrapped Canvases featuring some of our more iconic figures including Dr. John, Little Freddie King, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Trombone Shorty, Tab Benoit, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Uncle Lionel and more.......these pieces range in sizes from a massive 56x34 Anders Osborne piece to several 16x24 pieces, peppered with several sizes in between. Big thanks to Dylan and the crew over at NOLA Brew!! Other places and clients around town you can see my work on display in the New Orleans area both print and canvas format, the entire banquet room at “ACME Oyster House” on Iberville St. in the French Quarter, “Whiskey Blue” located in the W New Orleans on Poydras, “New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company” locations in New Orleans, LaPlace, and Mandeville, both floors of “Village Coffee” Uptown on Freret and Jefferson, and “d.b.a. New Orleans” on Frenchmen St., the “Louisiana Music Factory”, “The Great Artist Collective” on Royal St. in the French Quarter, and of course my studio and gallery on Montegut St. in the Bywater to name a few.
