Native Orleanian Photography chosen to decorate Gallier Hall for the North American Leaders Sum
Over this past weekend, I received a call from my friend Sandra who is the owner of The Great Artist Collective Gallery on Royal St.(I have art on display there). She had informed me that some people had come in that were working for our President, and they were looking for art to decorate Gallier Hall with that would make a statement about our culture. When she told me that they wanted as many of my pieces of art as possible to grace the walls of Gallier Hall for the Presidents of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and many other dignitaries to view, I was slightly taken aback. My first question was, “the president of what?”, thinking that I may have heard something wrong. Anyway, I was able to accomodate this “presidential” request gladly and with honor to represent New Orleans and its culture to the world leaders in attendance. The pieces on display were 6 24×36 canvases of , Kermit Ruffins, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, a Wild Magnolia Indian, the ever popular “REBIRTH”, a powerful image entitled “St. Peter St. Solstice”, and the President Bush’s favorite, “John Mooney, The Note”…….more to come at a later date on this subject. Also on display were 3 12×18 B&W’s of Branford Marsalis, Jeremy Davenport, and one of my favorites, Shamarr Allen. Jerry
Tipitinas Foundation Instruments/Injuns a Comin 08′ Donations
TIPITINAS FOUNDATION AUCTIONNative Orleanian Fine Photography is donating for auction 2 very special one of a kind pieces. A “Rebirth”24×36 Museum Wrapped Canvas be auctioned off before the Instruments A’ Comin show on the evening of Monday April 28th. What makes this very popular, ONE OF A KIND, piece even more special is that it is signed by the Rebirth Brass Band. Special thanks to Tuba Phil!!! Also, prior to the Injuns A’ Comin show on the evening of Wednesday April 30th, another, one of a kind, 24×36 Museum Wrapped canvas depicting and signed by Big Chief Monk Boudreaux will be auctioned off! Instruments A Comin’ 2008The Tipitina’s Foundation proudly announces its 7th Annual Instruments A Comin’ Benefit Concert on Monday, April 28, 2008, at the original Tipitina’s Uptown Music Club. The past six Instruments A’ Comin benefits have raised over $1.3 million worth of new instruments for the next generation of New Orleans musicians, but there are still many schools that need assistance.
Beginning at 5 PM with an outdoor cultural celebration and auction, Instruments A-Comin’ will feature the city’s greatest musical performers, all of whom are donating their time to support this important cause. Through the help of Jimmy Glickman and the New Orleans Music Exchange, the Tipitina’s Foundation is working tirelessly to insure that every child in New Orleans has the means to play music. Performances this year include Little Feat, Galactic (with Johnny Vidacovich and George Porter Jr.), The Radiators, Dragon Smoke (Stanton Moore, Ivan Neville, Eric Lindell and Robert Mercurio), Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Rebirth Brass Band, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, and Donald Harrison & the T.I.P. Interns. Both general admission and VIP tickets are available. VIP tickets include upstairs balcony access, open bar and food, and a private set by Little Feat indoors from 6:30pm-7:20pm.)

Performances by: Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Golden Eagles, Apache Hunters, Creole Wild West, Hardhead Hunters, 101 Runners, New Orleans Mardi Gras Rhythm Section. With outside performances by: Ninth Ward Hunters, Wild Tchoupitoulas, Golden Comanche Both general admission and VIP tickets are available. VIP tickets include open bar and food
