Dragon Smoke at Harvest the Music October 10th 2013
So what the hell am I doin up at 3:00am this morning editing a shoot from last night. Two words....Dragon Smoke. I became sort of “dependent” on Dragon Smoke several years ago on a mid December night at Tipitinas, where they completely shredded it during the second set........only topped possibly by the show yesterday at Lafayette Square. And don't get me wrong, they are REALY good every show, but some pick you up and take you further away than others....last night was one of the further away ones........What makes the shows even better is how obvious it is that these guy's love to play together and feed off of each other, theres truly a special synergy between these cats....... On top of a great show, while shooting a few images from the crowd, I get this heavy thump on my shoulder, who other than my friend Al “Carnival Time” Johnson who I hung with for a bit jammin to some Dragon Smoke.......ahhh Home Sweet Home........... Being a side gig for Stanton Moore, Robert Mercurio, Ivan Neville, and Eric Lindell, catching Dragon Smoke as a unit is a kind of seasonal thing down here, Christmas and Jazz Fest Season to be specific.(I believe I heard DSmoke will be at Tips sometime in December, and as usual at the One Eyed Jacks mid week Jazz Fest show) Thankfully I got my hands on a couple of the recorded shows at One Eyed Jacks which I listen to more than frequently throughout the year. Sweet sweet show last night.....THANKS DRAGON SMOKE.....;-) Enjoy the pics....Jerry ;-)
