Over the weekend I was able to attend OffBeat’s 2013 Best of The Beat Music Awards which took place at Generations Hall. My good friend Cyril Neville received his well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award earlier in the week at the music business awards, and along with the other awards presented on this evening, the highlight of the night for me would be a tribute set with the likes of Charlie Wooton, Tim Green, Cranston Clements, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Allen Toussaint, Deri Tucker, Papa Mali, Davell Crawford, Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr., Gaynielle Neville, Johnny Sansone, Willie Green, Yadonna West and more...... cyril_neville_best_of_the_beat_awards_jm_nofp_011814_037

there were times during that set that I thought I was back at Jimmy's Music Club jammin with Cyril Neville and the Uptown Allstars years ago......Congrats to my man Cyril Neville “The Uptown Ruler” for the well deserved recognition and accolades.
