Royal Southern Brotherhood at NOLA Recording Studio in New Orleans

A couple of weeks ago post VOW Fest I spent the greater part of the day with my compadres Cyril Neville, Devon Allman, Yonrico Scott, Charlie Wooten and new guitarist Bart Walker...aka The Royal Southern Brotherhood over at NOLA Recording Studio where they were writing/recording some cuts for their new album to be recorded in early 2015. royal_southern_brotherhood_promo_shoot_jm_101414_003A couple of weeks ago post VOW Fest I spent the greater part of the day with my compadres Cyril Neville, Devon Allman, Yonrico Scott, Charlie Wooten and new guitarist Bart Walker...aka The Royal Southern Brotherhood over at NOLA Recording Studio where they were writing/recording some cuts for their new album to be recorded in early 2015. This session reminded me of the ones before RSB's debut self titled CD, which were also held at NOLA Recording Studio, and ultimately recorded at Dockside Studios where over the 3 days I spent there was able to witness the undeniable creative chemistry between the band first hand......something I will never forget.....and oh yeah, I was there to do the marketing and CD photo shoots too ..........Even with guitarist and good friend Mike Zito stepping away from RSB to concentrate on his solo career with his band Mike Zito & The Wheel in support of his upcoming release SONGS FROM THE ROAD - Live in Texas (CD/DVD)Ruf Records, Guitarist Bart Walker, whose pedigree includes playing with Stevie Ray Vaughan's original back-up band Double Trouble and until recently had Double Trouble keyboarder Reese Wynans as a regular member of his own touring outfit, along with collaborating in studio with the likes of The Black Crowes and Lynyrd Skynyrd , has stepped in making the transition seamless.....This was no surprise to me after seeing Bart play with RSB in Nashville a few years ago at 3rd and Lindsley while I was on the road with the band for a half dozen or so shows. The updated lineup of RSB sounded fantastic at the 2014 Voice of the Wetlands Festival, and from hearing a few new tracks being worked out at NOLA Recording Studio last week, led by the “Uptown Ruler” Cyril Neville, RSB's follow up to the “HEARTSOULBLOOD” release will potentially be their best......and the first 2 were pretty damn good! Can't wait till they get in the studio in early 2015. In the mean time we were able to rattle off a few "under the gun" shots for marketing RSB and some solo shots of Devon Allman in support of his latest release "Ragged and Dirty" which was recently reviewed in Relix Magazine......Enjoy the pics!!
